After reading "Never again" comments I thought the comments were unfair until today's lunch fiasco at the "Muse". After waiting 25 min for our food to come (only ordered 2 main courses), I called a "waiter" (turned out to be the "manager" on duty1), only to be told that our food will still take another 10 min as my husband’s Pork Medallion dish need more than 25 min to cook, which was never told to us! After 5 min our terrible dishes arrived RAW pork medallions & my packet 6 cheese sauce (packet style), poured over dry & tough chicken breasts! My veg were under the breasts floating in sauce!!! Sent raw pork medallions back only to come back (due is given here ONLY, with a completely new plate), raw again & this time instead of the sauce having black olives as the menu & the first plate, this time the sauce had capers! By this time we were both so annoyed & disappointed that we just ate a little of each dish. Mr. Manager had the cheek to offer us a "free" coffee when we asked for the bill, I told him forthright that I didn't want any coffee & just wanted to get out of there. Mr. Manager couldn't handle an angry customer, whenever I threw something at him all he could say was "thank you". "Never again" comments on the quality & service of the staff at this establishment could not be put forward better. Looked forward to our Sunday lunch treat, but were terribly disappointed. Perhaps the owners should read all the post about their establishment & not bury their heads’ in the sand!!!
Still as good as ever!
I was rather concerned about revisiting the Muse after reading the two previous reviews. However, we found it to be as good as it always has been, great food, great service and great views! I can only assume that the authors of the previous two reviews either have a grudge against the restaurant or have reviewed the wrong restaurant.
very mediocre restaurant
My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant while on vacation. I thought I was safe ordering a hamburger, but couldn't have been more wrong. What came out of the kitchen at record speed was a very dry piece of meat between two halves of a stale bun. And my boyfriend's food was just as bad - thin, mushy crab cakes and an undercooked chicken fillet. We left almost all of our food on our plates. I would suggest to go elsewhere to find a decent restaurant. This one belongs on Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares!
I was invited to a dinner by a business partner so I am not sure of the cost but whatever the price it is too expensive. We sat in the cave,
there was a distinct smell of stale, moldy air. The menu included a seemingly good variety, the choice ranged from pâté to prawns for starters, salmon, steak, with side dishes of potatoes, rice, veggies. Last the desserts were mousse chocolat, sorbet, some type of apple pie. The execution was very very poor, the pate was seemingly pulled out of a can, I did not eat my main meal that was beef ragout with potatoes. It was a cold, tasteless, and served in a plate with poor hygenics and by a waiter that did not seem to like his job, indeed the service staff looked like they were borrowed by a cheap soviet era themed scene. They then served cheese on plates that were not washed. All four of us sitting at the table agreed on this particular point. The desserts that were served were worse than anything I have seen in a long time, I had no intention to eat it anything they served because of the clear signs of the poor hygiene. The mousse of chocolat seemed to be made from plastic though and again it was something that I was not the only one to notice. Judging by how many we're left uneaten, most did not like any of the desserts. I did not taste the wine, they had sparkling water that I drank on the table and that symbolized the whole thing as the bottle was a brand of discount sparkling water in a soft PET bottle, cheap and tasteless.
Superb lunch & views
I first reviewed Muse just after it opened in 2010 and said then 'A stunning place that I really hope survives the current economic situation'. Well it has and it goes from strength to strength.
We had a lovely family lunch there yesterday. Arriving at 12.00 it was already filling up and was virtually full by the time we left - people were having either a late breakfast, coffee, brunch or lunch in beautiful surroundings with an outstanding view over Kato Paphos. They seem to have added a few additional 'sails' so the outdoor shaded areas are much better now.
We had or shared (beware, the portions are big and virtually everything comes with saute potatoes or pitta bread) Chicken Kebab (always excellent here), Caesar Salad (though no anchovies!), a beautiful 'Sicily' Pasta (with Chicken) and Steak Sandwiches.
If I had any criticism it is that the 'all day' menu never varies but having said that there is a good variety of choices to suit most tastes and times. We've also had dinner here (the pork chops are enormous) and the desserts are good too (try the waffles).
This is a great all round cafe/bar/restaurant and is good value for money.
