To Kati Allo

Eleni and Michaelis are positive, creative, hardworking and talented taverna owners who clearly enjoy what they are doing and satisfying their customers.

We understand that the taverna's name translates into "something different" which the Meze is in many ways.

Very authentic traditional taverna!

Well I made it here yesterday for lunch and the whole experience was a culinary feast albeit for carnivores!

The buffet (€15) was a proper traditional Cypriot one with freshly made salads, perfectly grilled marinated aubergines and the best bread I've ever tasted amongst other things. None of the mass produced tasteless rubbish you can sometimes get.

The main course selection was mouth watering and not only was there lamb souvla, chicken souvla etc but wild boar! Side dishes included cous cous, pasta and potatoes aswell as fresh veg.

If anyone had room for dessert there was some traditional Cypriot dishes that I couldn't even begin to spell but one was similar to rice pudding and another was a custard.
It was Michael the owner's name day so he had made a carrot cake too.

The main menu available in the evening offers a wide selection including steaks from €19, venison €21, quail €11, meze €16 and moussakas €8.50.

There are also lighter dishes on offer including pasta and omelettes.

The wine list is small but will suit most tastes - I am sure the Methy (€20) will be a hit with those ordering venison!

The whole experience was one I'm sure I will be repeating.

Michael and Eleni are excellent hosts which makes for a very congenial atmosphere. The restaurant is clean as are the toilets and the service second to none.

Location wise, as has been posted before, it is in the centre of the village next to the car park and opposite 2 or 3 other bars/cafes. There is an entrance from the front and the side.

Can't wait to go back!
