Very good choice!

We found that place by chance and were quite surprised by the quality of ingredients used as well as their preparation. The owners were very nice. They make many products by themselves (olive oil, fresh figs served to every one at the end are from their garden,...). Everything was extrodinarily delicious - the fish was outstanding.
Hint: Ask the owners what fish they recommend since they know best which fish was caught and delivered on that given day. You should like olive oil as well, it is true that a lot is used (but this seems to be the case on Cyprus in general and olive oil is healthy!)
Recommandation: 100%

Sea Fare a good choice and no surprises!

We eat here at least once per visit, as we go diving from Lachi.

We have eaten here for lunch (many times) and for dinner (last time was during a violent thunder storm).

To be fair there is a good choice of eateries on Lachi harbour front, but even though we have tried most of them we usualy default to Sea Fare, they don't do what most of the other restaurants do, which is employ people to "hustle" you in to their restaurant and they remember us from last time unlike most of the others that seem to have regular changes of staff.

We have always found the staff (usually the owner and his wife) to be very friendly, and often leave with a gift of a bag of fruit or some other titbit.

The calamari and and mized fish grill that we had this time were fresh and excellent and prices are resonable considering the setting.

The last time we ate in the evening we had a mixed meze for 6 which was good value at 15ish euros a head whith no surprises on the final bill.

Give it a Miss

As residents here we often have friends and relatives over for holidays. One of these relatives who visited us last year recommended the Seafare restaurant at Latsi.
We had never got around to trying it.
We currently have my son and his girlfriend over and they wanted to eat somewhere that she could sample a Seafood Meze and he could have a steak.
Unfortunately we chose this restaurant. The Seafare.
We did not get off to a good start when, after ordering a large Leon (beer) I was presented with an unopened can and a glass. Upon querying this I was told they had run out of beer and the proprietor had to go and buy a few cans from the supermarket!

On to the food:

First the steak:
The pepper steak which was ordered medium was effectively “cremated
It was presented on a plate swimming in “gravy
There was nothing else on the plate. Not a vegetable or even a salad garish.
A large plate of soggy chips was then placed between my son and my partner for them to share.
My partner (Steph) ordered the Grilled Salmon, Which she described as “OK.
Again, served in the middle of the plate with no vegetables or garnish of any description.
I fully accept that if the menu does not state that the main course is served with vegetables then you should not expect such.
However, to serve with nothing is, in my opinion, unacceptable. Particularly considering the prices.

On to the Fish Meze:
The best you could describe this would be “poor
The dips and salad to start were OK but nothing to get excited about.
The Muscles, overcooked and dry.
The Calamari was just OK but a little overcooked.
The Prawns were the best part of the whole meal but were still not as juicy and moist as they should have been.
The Sardines were completely overcooked, dry and tasteless.
The Octopus was inedible, due once again to being overcooked with the texture of a piece of rubber.
The final course of Sole, wrapped round Spinach and Feta and a fillet of Red Snapper followed the all to familiar pattern, overcooked and tasteless.
The whole meal was over seasoned with salt which I accept is a hallmark of Cypriot fare in general.

Oh I nearly forgot to mention that the somewhat aggressive waitress stunk of booze!!!!
At no time during the meal were we asked if everything was OK, neither were we made to feel particularly welcome.

Needless to say will not be returning to this restaurant in a hurry.

I find it very sad that in these times of recession and falling tourist numbers restaurants are not trying that bit harder for repeat trade. Many seem to have the philosophy that most of their trade is from tourists, who are unlikely to return anyway, so let`s fleece them for all we can, whilst offering poor quality.

Seafare

Whilst taking in the atmosphere of Latsi marina the cool evening air made the roaring log fire in the Seafare Restaurant quite inviting.

The displayed menu was also appealing with the usual steaks, pork & lamb chops, meze, fish plus a number of specials.

There are a number of tables laid outside, but as the temperature was not up to alfresco dining we decided to eat inside.

Half the restaurant to the left is smoking to the right non, so if you choose a table to the far right you should be able to enjoy a relatively smoke free environment.

The owner is a welcoming chirpy Cypriot lady who speaks good English and makes a perfect hostess.

With the menus came some fresh sesame bread which was tasty.

Our party decide on two of the specials, chicken with broccoli & cheese, and chicken with spinach & feta, and scampi. The food arrived in a reasonable time and was well presented. A large plate of home made chips also arrived which were very good, but we weren`t sure which meal they came with, so we shared them.

An attentive Popeye look alike kept us topped up with drinks, probably the husband of the hostess, which makes a change from trying to catch someone`s eye, as you can sometimes experience.

The sweets are typical of most coastal restaurants, we settled for ice cream & Greek yogurt with honey, both of which were given a thumbs up.

With a bottle of wine & two Keos the bill was €60, on the expensive side, but not excessive.

Will probably re visit in the summer when we can dine outside.
