Some unusual dishes

I took friends to Imogens and they thought it one of the nicest meals they had this holiday, The courtyard is very pleasant and the menu interesting with some unusual dishes I had eggplant parmigana to start with unusual on a Cypriot/ middle East menu my friends shared the stuffed eggplant All very nice my only quibble would have been a bit more eggplant in my parmigana would have been nice. I had the meat pie which Ive had before and really like tender pork in a secret sauce in fillo pastry Very nice One of my friends and stuffed cabbage which she loved and her daughter had mixed grill A very nice lunch

tasty local lunch

Due to arriving mid public holiday afternoon, between the 'lunch' and 'dinner' service, we found ourselves out of luck at another local venue (busy with a 'just closed' kitchen), luckily the cook in Imogens had a different idea, and seated us in the empty venue and took our order. We knowingly ordered homemade 'local' dishes that would probably have been pre-prepared, and simply reheated, and the ping of the microwave confirmed it. I had a Moussaka (€9.50) which with potatoe and aubergine slices, and the rich white sauce was a treat. My dining partners enjoyed a filo pastry meat pie (€10) and a plate of keftedes (€8.50), all were served with ample portion of 'real chips' and a simple fresh salad. Whilst empty during our visit, the venue is interestingly decorated, and with the friendly service of the cook and the owner/manager (arrived promptly after our arrival ...) we were fed very well and enjoyed our visit, I`d be happy to drop by again in the future. Value at less than €10/pp for our lunch was excellent.

Try the Lemonato. It's fantastic.

We have been visiting Imogen’s Inn in Kathikas since it opened in 1996 and the restaurant has certainly passed the test of time. The proprietors have maintained a unique menu providing high-quality food with quirky unexpected choices. The unique character of the restaurant is also reflected in its decor and ambience. During the summer months we like to eat a relaxing meal in the courtyard and feel tucked away in a private haven. On colder days we choose to dine inside the restaurant and love its modern take on a traditional tavern. And of course the blazing log fire.
Imogen’s Inn is famed for its meat and vegetarian mezes which have a middle-eastern twist originating from the owners experiences living in Egypt.
The standard menu has a wide selection of vegetarian dishes and the daily specials often include traditional Greek and Cypriot dishes seldom available elsewhere in Cyprus such as Lemonato (a stew of pork and potatoes cooked in a lemon sauce). In 19 years of living in Cyprus I have never seen this dish at another restaurant and it was fantastic!
I recommend a trip to Imogen’s Inn for anyone visiting Kathikas or the Pafos region, and suggest a visit early in your holiday so that you have the opportunity to go again, because there’s nothing worse than finding a gem at the end of your holiday.

Lovely Meze

Had a lovely meze. Very atmospheric couryard setting. All the dishes were very good. House wine was from the Kolios Winery, so was very drinkable. The only downside was that no fruit or dessert was given at the end of the meze, not that we really needed it. Meze was 16.50 each amd carafe of wine was 7.50. The dog was very appreciative of the meat that we couldn't finish. Would definitely go again. Great place to take visitors who want somewhere traditional.

Excellent Taverna in a lovely village

Last night was the third visit in a month my wife and I had the Meze and her sister the Vegetarian Meze in each case the food was excellent and loads of it, so make sure you are hungry!
We ended the meal with a dish of ice cream that had a soft walnut and honey on it, the walnut is picked before the shell is hard and goes through a long process making it really fantastic to eat.

An excellent place with a lovely court yard. well worth the drive out Kathikas.
