Like Birmingham's finest but no rain

I have been here a number of times now and this is some of the best Indian food anywhere. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and work hard to provide an efficient service and welcoming atmosphere. Live sitar music one or two nights a week is different too. They are always busy so it is a good idea to book

Murray Curry celebration

Went out for a late curry to celebrate Andy Murray winning Wimbledon!

This is the second time we've eaten here and we've enjoyed it on both occasions. The service was very good and the portion sizes are excellent. I mean no disrespect when I say that at the end of the day it's 'only' an Indian Restaurant but it is a pretty good one.

Complementary poppadums were followed by the Prawn Puri and the Mixed Fish Platter - both were good and the latter was excellent. These were followed by the Chicken Dhansak & a Chicken Madras both with Plain Rice. We specifically chose the chicken dishes because they were 'fresh' as a lot of the other dishes were 'frozen'. They were both good choices. The chicken was excellent (as were the sauces) - hot and plentiful - in fact we couldn't finish them both. The only real negative was the Peshwari Naan which was too sweet for our taste. Too full to have any dessert and anyway we wanted to get back to read all about Murray's fantastic win.

Poppadums is on the coastal road between Paphos & Coral Bay (virtually opposite the Azia Hotel), has plenty of parking space and is disabled friendly. It also does Take Away's.

Wish we had found it sooner, great food, great service.

We have had a holiday home near this restaurant for nearly 10 years and never been.
Our loss!
The attention to detail is evident from when you are met at the door and taken to your table. The staff, decor and cleanliness are all up to a high standared.
When the lady came to take the order, she obviously knew what the dishes were, how they were cooked, what went with what and enabled our party of six to 'customise' their food. The magic words are 'punjab style' which they will do for most of their curries, unless they have cream in, they will also make a curry hotter, or cooler.
The only thing I personally didn't like was the peshwari nan which seemed to have a jam filling. The chilli and coriander one however was brilliant.
We were all 'sharers' so tried each others dishes and they were all great.
Afterwards we left the table and the mess we has created and went and sat outside on comfortable seating, very, very relaxing.
The other thing of note were the toilets, incense sticks and oil burners, very clean and a choice of paper towels or hand blowers - again the attention to detail.
The bill for 6 of us with Keo's was €125 - for all we had, we thought it was good value.

Wonderful Experience

My husband, my son and myself visited the restaurant whilst on a two week holiday last month.
The whole experience was amazing. Beautiful evening, live music, wonderful service and the best biryani we have ever tasted and we have eaten biryani from some of the best reaturants in Glasgow. We recommended the restaurant to other holidaymakers we met and they enjoyed the experience too. Definitely our first port of call on our return next year.

Not so good

I went to this place last week with my wife. We ordered vegetable samosas and tandoori chicken for starters. The samosas were not triangle in shape and had relatively softer crust. The tandoori chicken was sizzling but bland in taste. For main course we orderes chicken madras and prawn bhuna. Chicken madras tasted like 'chicken in rasam'. For people who don't know rasam its a tangy soup in south indian cuisine. The sauce was much more tangy compared to what it should have been. The prawn bhuna was more pathetic. It seems chef just prepared bhuna masala (thick gravy) and put frozen prawn into it and stirred it for 1 min. The gravy tasted nothing like what i had at other places. The Onion Kulcha and chilli Nan I ordered along were fine. They didn't tasted very sepcial but I have nothing bad either. The local cypriot wine was as per my taste. I wanted to had some dessert but after the main course my wife didn't allowed me to waste more money. The prices were no so high as compared to other indian restaurents but the food was no where near tasty. Will i go there again?? Yes I will, but I will be more careful while ordering. May be this time they had replacement chefs. It was first time here, I want to give atleat 2 more chances before I decalre it as absolute rubbish.
