Glad they are open again

We were so glad to hear that Aqui had reopened after their winter break that we booked straightaway for Sunday lunch. They have listened to diners comments and reduced the size of some portions and added some different vegetables. There were 4 of us for lunch 3 had the Indian starter, onion bharji, pakora and a samosa All very nice and just the right size. We all had different main courses, 1 salmon, 1 roast beef, 1 chicken and 1 roast stuffed pork which I had and it was delicious. We all enjoyed our main courses. 3 of us then decided on the chocolate sampler which came with a lovely white chocolate egg which was painted in gold with its own chocolate spoon for Easter All in all another excellent meal from John Carol Tony and rest of the team

Fab Christmas lunch

We love Aqui so when we heard that they were doing Christmas lunch we signed up straight away. The room was festive and cosy. We started with fizz and canapes which were delicious. My one quibble was that I chose tomato soup which was delicious but such a large bowl that I was full up after it and didn't do justice to the main course. There was a choice of turkey pork and gammon served up carvery style with a yorkie and then the veg arrived on a platter in middle of table. All were delicious but I really didn't eat as much as I'd ve liked. 3 of us even cancelled our desert Mick had the chocolate orange cheesecake I had a taste and it was fab, almost like a Terrys chocolate orange. We ended up with port and cheese. All in all another lovely meal from Aqui And excellent mine hosts with a lovely young waitress lending a hand So thanks for a lovely Christmas John Carol Tony and young Georgia

We love Aqui and have eaten there twice this holiday so far and are going back on Sunday for the fab Sunday lunch The Sunday lunch is one of the best Ive had the pork stuffed with apricots is to die for I had mentioned to Jon that I loved gazpacho and when booked they had made some especially for me and it was great The desserts are worthy of Master Chef my one quibble is that they are too big!!! I couldn't do my caramel and choc mousse justice

Fast gaining a reputation

This restaurant is fast becoming one of our favourites. Jon, & Carol (the very friendly owners) & Tony (the chef) have produced an excellent set of menus and Tony is clearly a talented chef.

We had dinner here on Wednesday night - we sat inside as it was a little blowy on the rooftop but we had a lovely sunset view. The attention to detail is good to see (from little table stands stating your names & booking time to the menus coming on clipboards etc) and Jon is very quick to update you on what's on the specials etc.

We started with the Malibu Chillied Prawns & the Sesame Coated Cod Bites both of which were very good indeed. A complementary lemon sorbet followed before our chosen main courses of Tandoori Rack of Lamb & a Thai Chicken Curry. The rack of lamb with Mediterranean vegetables and hot, minted, potato salad was absolutely delicious and I loved the Spicy, hot, coconut scented cream sauce with a separate bowl of sticky jasmine scented Thai rice.

We were pretty full by then but we couldn't resist trying the desserts - my wife choosing the ATC (All Things Chocolate!) which consisted of a profiterole filled with white chocolate cream, a pastry cone filled with white chocolate, a dark chocolate 'Spoon' and a small chocolate gateau with cherry compote & ice cream whilst I had a chocotirohazelnut mousse (or something like that!) with ice cream and a small 'slab' of tempered, marbled, chocolate. Both desserts were handmade by Tony and looked almost too good to eat but we managed nevertheless!!

All washed down with a bottle of Tsangerides wine, water and two coffees - a delicious meal at a very good restaurant.

This is a restaurant that deserves to succeed and it's slowly gaining the reputation it deserves. We haven't tried them yet but the lunches and, especially the Sunday lunch (essential to book apparently), are on our list for the near future!

Great Sunday Lunch

We had Sunday lunch with friends at Aqui yesterday We had been the day before for lunch and enjoyed it so much we booked in for the following day I was a bit nervous as I had raved to our friends Would it be as good!!! And yes it was. I started with lovely homemade samosas on a tomato and onion salad and they were lovely just the right kick of chilli. Three of us had the samosas and one the gingered melon, all very happy
2 of us had the roast beef, 1 the steak and ale pie and I the salmon. The beef was accompanied by a good yorkie champ, chateau potatoes, carrots, stuffed cabbage parcel and a delicious cauli cheese. It was so nice to have "interesting" vegetables not just boiled carrots and peas. The beef was cooked beautifully There were 4 very happy people at this point
I remembered the beautiful desert from the day before and made room for a sort of Eton mess, the meringue was on top so you could break into it and was truly delicious certainly not bought it had that lovely chewy texture in the middle. Well done Aqui another lovely meal
