Xmas Disappointment

In noting the good reviews this restaurant gets we were pleased to be invited to have Xmas lunch there with a groups of friends. Unfortunately our expectations were not met. The Xmas buffet they provided had food we could best describe as mediocre. An very boring sweetcorn and pepper soup was followed by a minimal salad course. The smoked salmon rolls were pleasant but the rest disappointing. A standard salad plus a salad with small pieces of meat, tiny pate portions, humous, tzatziki and meat balls. The main course had some form of turkey pre-carved but obviously not from a roast bird, salmon fillet, pasta, potato wedges in a rather greasy sauce and a poor quality gammon on the carvery. Desert was Xmas pudding and apple tarts. None of the food was memorable and we were surprised to find coffee charged extra. There was little Xmas atmosphere in the place and no effort to place any Xmas decoration on the table other than a cheap cracker for each guest. We could not help feeling that this lunch was based on the lowest cost and minimum effort they could get away with.

I can only assume the a la carte menu is produced by an excellent chef because of the ratings others have given but there was no evidence that he was in the building for this disappointing lunch.

Well Worth the Return!

Sunset Breeze is a little off the beaten track for some even though it is just off the main Road from Paphos to Coral Bay, but believe me it is well worth searching out. On a relatively quiet night in October we were soon greeted and seated by the pleasant and professional staff.
We opted to share the homemade dips that come with homemade tacos, we also asked for an extra pitta as there is plenty to share, and as always it was delicious especially the beetroot and dill one. I opted for the pork loin in blue cheese sauce and my good lady the tempura King prawns with salad and home cooked chips, The pork plentiful and was devine, tender as could be with a rich cheese sauce accompanied by stir fried vegetables that were delicious. My wife really enjoyed the light batter on the tempura prawns and said they were great as were the freshly prepared salad and chips. The house wine was also very good as it had made the journey from Kolios

Nice to be Back!

All four of us had an excellent meal once again at the Sunset Breeze. My rib eye steak was superb as were the mixed kebabs and my wife enjoyed the Garlic King prawns, the homemade fries and fresh vegetables were a great addition. For dessert I had two scoops of homemade orange liquer and a mango ice cream both delicious as were the homemade Brownie and crème brulee the service was again very good as was the wine.

One to try again

Sunset Breeze had been recommended by a friend so we tried it out last night and for a Monday night it was reasonably busy which says a lot at this time of the year. Well decorated and laid out, I'm not sure if it sees itself as an all-day cafe/bar or an above average restaurant - either way we had an enjoyable dinner there. The staff were friendly and attentive.

It has an extensive menu ranging from 'daytime' sandwiches & different lunchtime 'specials' for each day of the week to a good a la carte dinner menu.

We started with a Home-made, & large, Crab Fishcake in Japanese breadcrumbs which was lovely if just a tiny bit dry and the Cheese Quesadilla. This was followed by an excellent Surf & Turf, Fillet Steak (good size and with four prawns) and the Chef's Special Pork Chops with bell peppers (too many?) in a sweet & sour sauce. The pork chops were very good indeed and we had some lovely fried potatoes and vegetables to go with them. If I'm honest, the Creme Brûlée was less of a success - just not to our taste.

All in all a very pleasant place to have dinner and I'm sure that we will go again later in the year.

Excellent!

We ate here last night and I am tempted to say that it was probably the best meal we have had in 25 years of coming to Cyprus. We shared a fish meze, but asked the waiter to mix in some meat for us. Everything served to us was unique in some way and the combination of tastes and quality was truly amazing. We had beers, a couple of cocktails and a bottle of excellent Petridis Xinesteri and the bill for 2 came to around 60 euros. Highly recommended!
