Great location, all vg

Been meaning to visit the 'Seagull' for a while, so on what is a hot sunny time of the year decided to call for a late Sunday lunch.Offered a nice table sheltered from the sun with a fan to help keep us cool.Lovely sea views with people enjoying the a swim and boys showing off jumping in from the nearby jetty. An interesting menu with a choice of main meals and snacks, the prices a little high but about what to expect from the location, standard of service etc.Started with complementary warm rolls with butter and tapenade spread. Both chose salads, Jen having the rocket salad with parmasan cheese, sundried tomatoes and pine nuts. I had the seafood salad which included crabsticks, mussels, prawns and octopus. We shared some garlic bread and a plate of chips. All very good, washed down with beer and a jug of lemonade to make a shandy. Will visit again later on in the year for an evening meal.

pleasant setting

We ate twice at the SeaGull on our Easter holidays. On both occassions we all enjoyed our meal though because of where it is I thought it rather pricey. The pork in masala wine sauce was lovely. The minus point was on the first occassion we ordered the bill and paid and we never got the change!!!

Good quality Cypriot food

Have eaten in Seagull on most hols to Paphos - it is reliable, food is always good, service is discreet and pleasant. The setting is lovely overlooking the harbour with the fort in the distance. I think the price matches the quality of the food and would recommend it for a good meal out.

Excellent food and service - but over-priced

My wife and I had a decided to eat at the Seagull on a Saturday night as we'd heard good reviews of the food.

The place was very busy but we got a good table outside and the staff were attentive, welcoming and polite.

We declined to have a bottle of wine (our usual favourite, Persefoni Medium Dry, was 15 euros a bottle!) and both decided to have the special of the day, lamb kleftiko. We agreed that it was the best lamb we'd ever tasted and was incredibly tender, it was only let down by the very small portion of vegetables that came with it.

I had a very nice panacotta for dessert, but we didn't stay for coffee.

The level of service, and quality of the food, means we will probably eat there again - but at their prices, not often.

Worth another visit

This was our 8th or 9th visit in the last 10 years, before last night it was at least a year ago we last went. We took our daughter in law who was staying with us and after looking around the area as we wanted to eat in, Kato Paphos, and dismissing several establishments charging €27 for a steak and €19 for a bottle of local plonk, as it was getting late we descended on the Seagull. The waiting staff were very attentive and within 5 minutes we were seated at a table outside on the front as requested. The food was well presented and cooked well, the sea bass was superb however my calamari starter was more "rubbery" than normal but tasted OK. The melon chosen as a desert was superb and was on the house. My apple pie was tasty but the pastry was under cooked and soft. We had a bottle of Status 99 from Kolios winery which as usual was robust, smooth and extremely palatable. Only criticism was at €15 (profit €11.50) why not charge a more reasonable €12 (profit €7.50) then we would most likely have ordered a second bottle (profit €15). When the overheads are well covered on the food why charge so much for the wine?? Despite the negative comments the total bill at just under €100 was acceptable bearing in mind the location, the prices charged by other restaurants close by and the general quality of the food.
