good but not great
Initial greeting from staff lukewarm, loads of empty tables, but all reserved was not communicated very well. Venue smartly finished, atmosphere was lively, buzz of conversation & upbeat background music. 24 mixed sushi rolls, 2 glass wine & water. The price? €18/ea, not very high but the general product also not excellent : small size rolls, rice that fell apart. Overall impression was good, just not great. Wouldn't mind to go again, but competitive venues within walking distance.
Good Japanese/Thai Restaurant
Four of us had a pretty good meal here last night. The starters of Vegetable Tempura, Tuna Sashimi, Green Dragon Makimono (8 pieces of spicy salmon, tempura flakes & wasabi) and Prawn Lover Makimono (8 pieces of prawn tempura and mango) were all very good. For our main courses two of us had the Koi Special (beef fillet, chicken teriyaki, and black tiger prawns in soya sauce) whilst the others had the Massamun Chicken Curry with coconut milk, fresh onions & potato) and the Assorted Seafood(salmom, tiger prawns, calamari and sea bream with carrots in garlic butter, spring onions and cabbage, all of which we enjoyed and couldn't really be faulted. We finished with two Hot Black chocolate fondants with vanilla ice cream (excellent) and one Home Made Strawberry ice cream. The Chinese beer was ok as was the Sake but the wine list left a lot to be desired and was pretty expensive for what it offered. The service was a bit morose to start with but to be fair they warmed up as the evening wore on!All in all an enjoyable evening and we will visit again.
Very refined Japanese kitchen
Allthough they have no teppanyaki tables to sit behind, they serve teppanyaki prepared dishes. The quality is outstanding and they have a huge list of sushi, sashimi, tempura, etc. Everything is of the highest quality, also the winelist. I can recommend to start with the Koi tempura platter and after that their Koi special crispy duck, delicious. Also the chocolate cake desert, filled with real warm chocolate is very nice. And try the Norton malbec wine, very good for the price.
The service is of the highest level, no empty glasses here and if you smoke, the ashtray is changed when you are ready. By the way, there are seperate smoking / non smoking parts, as it should.
