Well my old folks love the Brahms and Liszt. They love the owner and his wife. Raif the owner usually does all the cooking whilst his wife is the boss and hostess. The food is good and plentiful, slightly dated decor for someone my age, but all the pensioners seem to love the whole package.

The owner then comes out for a singing session and plays the piano, entertaining the oldies with some old songs, I think he used to play on cruise ships in his youth.

Well the food was OK but I found the goings on with the staff a bit strange.

We decided to choose this reataurant for a meze as it is advertised painted on the frontage. As you probably know with a meze, they do vary and you can never be sure what you are going to get, or in what order but the staff usually tell you. Well our starters all arrived and were explained to us, there was then a delay of some 15 minutes before the first of the 'mains' arrived, that's fine I had no problem with that, the dishes then came at about 5 minute intervals and were explained to us until about the fifth dish which was brought by a different waiter who just placed the dish on the table and turned to walk away, I said, "excuse me but what is this dish?"

Without thinking and with total honesty he replied, "I don't know the chef just told me to take it to your table."

I asked him to return and ask the chef which he did, my wife and I had just about stopped laughing at his honesty by the time he returned.

There was then a gap of about 15 minutes before another dish was brought out and another five minutes later. The chef then appeared in the restaurant and started to strut around as though he owned the place (He probably did) He started clearing tables while the waiting staff looked on confused. He then disappeared and brought some food out to a table himself while the waiters stood idly by.

After this had been going on for about 10 minutes we assumed that our meze had finished (you're never quite sure with a meze) but no the lady in black who seemed to be running the place nudged the chef and pointed to our table, that was obviously his cue to return to the kitchen and do some cooking, which he did.

The live music was nice and atmosphere generally good and we had no complaint about the quality of the food however the service left us a bewildered

Try one of the £9.99 specials - they are good value and tasty (especially the garlic mushrooms). Beware of the chipped bowls though they sem to detract from the tastiness of the dishes

Had a very nice lunch. Staff friendly & service good.
