Traditional Indian food at its best

I have never found anything to complain about, if fact not only I but the hundreds of other people that I have recommended this place too have all come back to me and thanked me.

It is true that in the western world we have acquired different tastes and often traditional food is tainted to accommodate these tastes such as the Indian & Chinese restaurants scattered about the northern hemisphere and it is a breath of fresh air to actually find an Indian restaurant serving traditional Indian food instead of imitation wannabes, Prema is such a restaraunt

I first starting eating their food, not from the restaurant but from of all placed the frozen ready meal section of the local supermarkets, and then I came across their actual restaurant and became a fan especially of their onion barges!

Their prices have always been extremely completive with not only other Indian restaurants but also against your bulk standard pub grub, I do agree that at times it can be a lonely experience to eat there but that is not the fault of the owner but more of the fact that I often arrived early and there really was not that many tourists around last year just in case anyone walked around with their eyes shut!

The food was not great big portions but is definitely value for money especially as my wife and I had been spending around 50-60 euro on the take-a-ways from rival Indian restaurants up until that point, the same carry out cost us just over the 30 euro mark save us around 25 euro!

I do suffer from gastric problems and found the Indian food from prema a safe option as it is never over spiced or contain things that really should never go into food.

Finally I would like to wish `Mad Mike` a good coming season and I for one will fill my usual place once a week for my intake of Indian crusine

Be warned!

Thought we'd try the Prema as a friend had recommended their buffet. We were the only ones there, the host was friendly but the atmosphere was zero. The host sat with us the whole meal, giving us his opinions on Margaret Thatcher, religion, the state of the world today, etc. etc. Very, very basic in the restaurant, with only one table to available to sit at as all the rest were piled with boxes, paper and allsorts. We wouldn't normally mind this as it could reflect value for money in the food. We were wrong!

The food was ok and freshly cooked (not the buffet by the way), but very expensive. Portions were small. We had poppadums and pickle to start, 1 bottle of wine, a main course each and one portion of rice and a portion of vegetables between 2 of us and the bill was 58 euros. Felt quite ripped off, especially as the owner told us we should have gone before 7.30 as all meals are half price then. Perhaps he could have made an exception for us on this as we were the only ones there, and likely to be there that night. We won't be going back.

Worst Point ? going in

Prema

Having lived in Bradford for a number of years I know a good curry when I taste one, so went for what I thought would be a safe bet of the Chicken Madras. It tasted like chicken in tinned tomato puree, the owner insisted that only fresh ingredients were used, and that tomato puree was not an ingredient used. He declined my request to visit the kitchen. A partial refund was offered. The prices are also aimed at rich tourists.

ex buffet

Dont go for orderign from menu - go for the daily buffet. Good selection of meat and veggie dishes, with selection of starters and unlimited nan and sides. The surrounding are basic in the extreme but food is very good and buffet very very good value. Have been several times.

Prema Indian Takeaway

We had a takeaway meal from here. 3 x meat dishes, 2 x rice, 2 x naan breads, 2 x Keo while waiting = £32.00!!!! No discount for takeaway so I could have saved on petrol and washing up and ate in the restaurant. Food OK but won't be returning due to prices. Oh, but the lady did proudly announce that the poppadums were free?

I've heard Koh i Noor is the best so will save that one for a night out, as for takeaways I shall just have to perfect my cooking and make a batch for the freezer in case of those 'can't cook, won't cook' emergencies.
