Very Good Quality Italian Cuisine

I have been here twice over the last couple of years and would definately recommend a visit. You need to pay attention to find it, as it is on a roof top and a flight of stairs leads uo to it. The pianist & singer is very good and even does requests.
When we went this year it was very quiet even though it was July school holidays. We were informed by the very attentive staff this was the case for most restaurants in the area due to the economic down turn. The restaurant (like many in Paphos) has reacted to this and the 2 set price menus offer fantastic value for money for such wonderful food. If you are on holiday for a fortnight and fancy a change from local taverna style food this is definately an excellent alternative.
I really hope it survives the downturn as good quality establishments are often hard to find.

wedding meal

We recently had our wedding meal here- we choose it from looking at previous reviews.

The restaurant had been beautifully decorated for our wedding and we were made to feel very welcome the minute we walked up the steps.

We had 22 people and a baby at the restaurant, the waiter was fantastic as was the quality and presentation of the food and drink. We have to say it is the best place we have ever been for a meal either home or abroad. The booking was easy and the owner very helpful before we had even arrived in Cyprus. We had a second meal whilst on our holiday which was just as good, it is definitley a must to eat here whilst in Cyprus either for a meal or for a wedding party.

Come to the Colosseum!

Eating out with a 6 year old can be a rather trying experience. Not so at the Colosseum, where we both enjoyed two fabulous evenings, first in the company of the ultra professional Dean Robbins, and then with the flamboyant Andrew Oliver in his Elton John show.

The first pleasure was being escorted to a table where we had an excellent view of the stage. All too often when dining alone with a small child, you are escorted to a table out of the way of other diners or near the loo. As my little one loves live music and is relatively civilised when it comes to dining out, we were both very pleased to be in the midst of the action - particularly since we were starved of other company. The lively, friendly atmosphere of the Colosseum put us both at our ease and we immediately relaxed and got ready to enjoy our evening.

The second surprise was the menu. On both occasions, I ate from the Summer set menu, which I felt offered plenty of choice, good value for money, and great presentation. The sauce on the peppered steak was too spicy for my taste, but I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken I'd had the previous night. Both my daughter and I were really impressed by the children's menu, which offered healthy choices in even healthier portions, that I'm sure would satisfy even a famished teenager. To me, one of the measures of how well the food is being enjoyed is to look around you; we were surrounded by smiling faces, with people giving 'mmms' of appreciation and sending back cleared plates.

Having already seen Dean Robbins with Abba at Pissouri, we were thrilled to find him at the Colosseum - in fact, he was the reason for our visit. A consummate professional, Dean tailored his set to the changing complexion of the audience throughout the evening, alternately soothing with romantic songs from the crooners and risking one or two less well known melodies: I particularly enjoyed the one about the man, his caravan, and the cat. His easy audience interaction made the evening special for the packed restaurant - we'll definitely go back to the Colosseum to see him again.

Andrew Oliver with his changing wigs and wardrobe brought back memories of some long-forgotten songs from Elton John, and at least half of those dining at the restaurant had seen him perform before and returned for a second helping.

But perhaps the best thing about the evening for us was the kindness, attentiveness and warmth of the welcome by the staff. They treated my 6 year-old like a young lady (always guaranteed to bring forth her best behaviour), then swooped her off to the back room to ply her with fresh orange juice. They filled napkins with sparkly wedding confetti for her scrapbook, and smiled when she went round taking photos of the decor (well out of the way of other diners).

We both went home pleasantly full of delicious food, humming songs from the sets, and warm inside from the atmosphere. We can't wait to come back on our next trip to Cyprus; make an evening at the Colosseum part of YOUR next trip to Paphos. You won't be disappointed.

Exellent food, good atmosphere

I decided to visit Colosseum I last Saturday, I tried to book but they told me that for one person it's always possible to arrange a table. Fortunately they did when I arrived but that was pure luck I guess. The staff is gentle and they let you enjoy the evening. I mean, when I have finished my starter they don't come immidiately with another dish, just relaxe and I like that very much. The Elton Johm act is good indeed and adds value to the atmosphere. I ordered the 'chefs favourites', as a starter the beef carpaccio, than the mussels in tomato sauce and as main dish the Filletto Rossini (rear of course). After I ordered, the gentle waiter came back to tell me that the rucola for the carpaccio was out of stock and suggested me to go for another starter or some lettuce instead of rucola. I went for the carpaccio with lettuce, the meat was excellent as was the parmazan cheese and the dressing they used, the rucola would have made this a superb carpaccio. The mussels in tomato sauce where very good. In between I did get several warm bruschetta's, tasteful. The Filletto was also fine, warm enough on the inside and high quality meat. As a side dish some fresh vegetables and potatoes where served. I did drink an affordable Los Cardos 2005 Mendoza Malbec Argentinian wine which combined very good with the red meat. As a dessert I ordered a chocolate mousse which was delicious. I also wanted a ristretto but strangly they did not know what that was... At the end I get a free brandy which was nicely warmed and fired up at the table, thanks for the very enjoyable evening Colosseum I!

A superb meal

As a tourist I have to say that this was one of our best meals in our two week stay, we did not book but they quickly accommodated us. We felt a bit guilty afterwards as everyone else seemd to have booked and we were the only 'walk-ins' on the night. We were treated excellently, this restaurant does not have the almost obligatory man outside with the 'lovely couple you read my lovely menu' patter, and it obviously does not need it. It's reputation must get it all of the trade it needs.

We were lucky in that when we visited they had the cabaret of the Elton John tribute act and he was very good (we saw the real man live last year and this guy was good.

The food was marvellous excellently presented and served by efficient staff. Not the cheapest meal but it was worth every euro, quality comes at a price. My only regret was that we didn't find this place earlier in our holiday as I would have liked to have gone there more often. A real jewel in a town that is overflowing with restaurants
